greater peterborough utc UNIFORM - Business attire:

The Greater Peterborough UTC Business Attire has been chosen to look smart, in line with current business standards and be cost effective as most items can be obtained from a wide variety of retailers. All students will be supplied with ID cards and lanyards at the beginning of their first school year, these must be worn everyday, throughout the school day. 

Students are expected to wear appropriate kit for Sports and Leisure activities. 

Essential Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) can be purchased privately if so desired, however any mandatory PPE shall be available at the GPUTC for the learner to utilise.

Females

Males

ID Card and UTC Issued Lanyard

A suit, smart trousers, trouser suit skirt, skirt suit, or a dress suitable for a professional environment (no denim or leggings permitted)

A top or blouse suitable for a professional environment, tops should cover the shoulders, chest and stomach: low necked tops, vest tops and crop tops are not suitable. If a top is sheer, a suitable top must be worn underneath.

Skirts & dresses should be of formal style, not skin tight and be no shorter than the top of the wearer’s knee.

Blazer style tops are optional for female students.

Jumpers must be plain; sweatshirts and hooded tops are strictly forbidden inside the building.

Smart plain roll neck or turtle neck jumpers are permitted. If this option is chosen, no shirt is required.

Any words or diagrams on clothing must be discrete and must not be offensive or seen to be offensive (the final decision lies with the Director of Student Support).

Smart shoes or boots are permitted, a modest heel is allowed in non-workshop/non-PE environments.

A long or short sleeved shirt (coloured/patterned shirts are permitted)

Where a formal, stiff-necked collared shirt is worn, a tie is compulsory unless a jacket or jumper is worn.

Jumpers must be plain; sweatshirts and hooded tops are strictly forbidden inside the building.

Smart plain roll neck or turtle neck jumpers are permitted. If this option is chosen, no shirt is required.

Any words or diagrams on clothing must be discrete and must not be offensive or seen to be offensive (the final decision lies with the Director of Student Support).

Smart shoes or boots

For formal events, a tie must be worn with a stiff-neck collared shirt (advance warning will be given)

Inappropriate Items:

Hoodies (this includes GPUTC hoody)

Trainers/plimsolls/open shoes/flip flops/sandals

Denim

T-Shirts / Polo-style T-shirts

Open shoes are not suitable for workshop or classroom environments and are therefore not permitted for students. Any form of training shoe and flip flops are not suitable in any part of the building

Additional Details

Outdoor Coats or Jackets must not be worn within the GPUTC. Coats must be removed when entering the building and stored within Lockers.

Make up should be subtle.

The following jewellery is permitted for students;

  • a watch, a single set of earrings and a single necklace (which must always be worn inside the student's shirt/blouse). Jewellery must be removed in a workshop/PE environment.

GPUTC issued lanyards must always be worn around the neck unless instructed to remove them (this may be required in workshops or during other practical sessions where the lanyards may pose a health and safety risk).

·For students and staff who work in workshop environments, nails should be kept short enough to safely operate machinery and wear Personal Protective Equipment if required.

A sports-appropriate change of clothing and footwear must be brought for PE lessons. You may not arrive in school in PE kit. No inappropriate slogans or images may be worn.
