Anglian Water is the lead sponsor for GPUTC and has been instrumental in ensuring the school had the necessary support to open successfully. AW cleans water and delivers it to millions of homes, managing water stocks and supplies to ensure continuous supply. “We borrow water from the environment, store it and treat it to world-class standards to supply safe drinking water to 4.3 million customers in towns and villages from Grimsby in the north east of our region to Milton Keynes at its south-western tip.” (Anglian Water)
Anglian Water will be helping to contextualise students learning at both GCSE and A levels.
At GCSE level, students will examine the water process cycle used by AW and the plant that is used to get the water to consumers. Students will be required to redesign a piece of plant as part of their studies.
At A-level students will undertake a unit around the environment and look at sustainable solutions used by AW as well as those in the wider world. They will also undertake a practical project task in small teams to get supplies from source to consumer and their work will culminate in an optioneering task where they will need to choose and justify the best option considering many aspects not only technically but commercially and present a solution for ‘approval’ to a sanction committee.
