UN International Day of the Girl

Tuesday 11th October marked the annual UN International Day of the Girl. Students and staff took some time out to reflect on what it means to be a girl in today's world.

Here at the UTC we felt that it was an event we had to support and get involved with. Led by our female staff and chaired by our Student Support Worker Emma, we invited all of our female students for an opportunity to reflect on being girls in today’s often difficult world.

The event was an open forum for our students to feedback how their first half term at the UTC had gone as well as an opportunity to network with other female students/members of staff over refreshments.

One of our Year 10 students had this to say about the event 'UN International Day of the Girl showed me how every woman can unite as one community. Spending this session with other UTC girls and members of staff has shown me that we are stronger when we work together and listen to each other'.
